I have dark and very thick body hair.
Tried the beauty salon for a wax before but the beauticians were puzzled by how strong my hair was. A nightmare to be honest !
I also tried cold wax before, eveN more useless for me !
BzzAgent was running a campaign to try the Veet Easy-wax for free.
Will this new device cut it for my challenge ?
What does Veet says ?
Wax on, hair offWaxing at home often sounds like a nightmare: trying to apply messy wax that’s too hot (or not hot enough) is enough to make any girl consider going au naturale. But don’t let your inner yeti out just yet — Veet®’s innovative EasyWax™ system features a one-of-a-kind device that plugs into the wall for consistent temperature and handy roll-on applicator for clean and even wax application. A dream come true for your legs, underarms or anywhere else that’s a little on the wild and woolly side.
What do I think ?
Pre-waxing :
This is very easy to set up. No warming strips in your hands, no messy microwave. Just place the cartridge in the device, place on its base and plug in.Big credits to Veet for this new cleaner and simpler system.
Application :
The wax is supposed to take 20 minutes to heat.Simply roll a patch onto your legs, knee to ankle.
The wax should spread quite easily.
Judging by my first strip, I suspect I should have left it to heat for longer.
However, it is indeed very easy to spread
Take a strip and place it on top of the waxed patch, smooth over, leave it for a minute and pull
The smell:
Thankfully, you do not get the nasty smell you get from depilating cream. The smell is not attractive but nor is it repulsive, far from it.
The strip:
Unfortunately the "fabric" strip seems to be made of a mix of paper and fabric,This is one of the messy part : lint comes off and gets stuck all over the place
Neither am I sure there kit contains enough strips for the amount of wax.
The pain :
Being a regular user of electric epilator, I didn't feel any pain at all.I suppose this will be different from user to user. Are you used to waxing, do you have sensitive skin, … ?
The actual waxing :
The notice tells you to pull ankle to knee but keeping the strip as close to the skin as possible rather than pulling diagonally.Should you pull too far away from the skin, the hair will break rather than pull off.
Well, this was the big let down for me : see the amount of wax left after pulling (picture)
It did get cleaner after a few more application, so maybe this was only down to the wax being too cool still.
How did it perform :
I am not sure whether this is the nature of my hair (after-all, I tend to leave beautician puzzled by how strong my hair is !) or whether the system is simply ineffective. This probably removed 60 to 70% of my hair.
Since it is not recommended to wax the same patch twice, this leaves me to resort to my electric epilator or razor.
A lot of effort for very little results !
How did my skin look afterwards :
I always end up with very red legs after using the epilator. The wax did fare much better in this regard. My skin didn't look nor feel too irritated
Final verdict :
I do not believe this system is good for strong, thick body hair.A 40 minutes session to still end up using a razor or epilator seems very counter productive.
I love the fact it is less messy than other home-waxing systems but still sticky and hard work.
With a RRP of £30 and refills at £10 (up to 4 wax sessions per refill) this is great news if you are a waxing aficionado and want to cut out on salon cost.
For razor and epilator users, this works out VERY expensive
I personally will not buy another refill.
I may use up the ones I have now but this is the end of the road for me.
Not being certain whether the system is inappropriate for my hair type or simply not up to sractch; I will give it a rating of 3 out of 5
And give Veet big credits for coming up with a great convenient system.

fantastic review, i also found that after using this it didnt remove all the hair it did take up the majority of it tho
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie ! xx
DeleteI've always been scared to try waxing. A very through review
ReplyDeleteI will have to try this! thanks!
ReplyDeleteHope it works for you Elizabeth. As I said, I don't know whether it was my stubborn hair or the wax but it didn't do a thorough job for me.
DeleteI have never used something like this... but will try!
ReplyDeleteI'm not very hairy and the leg hairs I do get are fine, and I have to say it did work a treat for me, and I've never waxed my legs before.
ReplyDeleteGreat to learn it worked out for you.
DeleteAs I said, not sure whether it is my hair or the wax. This said; I waxed one leg and shaved the other; what a difference after a week ! Maybe worth using the wax for me and finish with the epilator.
I had been thinking of trying this but I don't think I'll bother now. This is why I love reviews by "real" people - I get a much better idea of how something will work.
ReplyDeleteI had been thinking of trying this but I'm not so sure now. This is why I love reviews by "real" people - you get a good idea of how things work.
ReplyDeleteIf you can borrow one from a friend, do not hesitate to try. It may work for you.
DeleteBut if cannot get your hand on one to try, maybe not worth the investment.
i am thinking of giving this a try, last time i waxed at home it was a disaster and ended up pretty sore, will pluck up the courage to try this one though ;)
ReplyDeleteThe one good thing about it is that I really didn't react too badly. A bit red for a an hour or so but much better than the epilator or shaving.
DeleteHope it works out for you Lucky321.
Great rview, i have same type of hair and go on hols in 3 weeks so need something! I too have an epilator but not a regular user! Any tips on how to get great results with epiilator? Which one do you use? x
ReplyDeleteHi Rebecca, Thank you ! I use the simple Satinelle. The main thing with it is to exfoliate 24 hrs before using. I use a loofah in circular motion (For the leg). Wash my skin with tepid water a couple of hours before using the epilator and moisture an hour or so after using. However, I find that I still get in-growing hair. Which is why I was keen to try the wax.
DeleteThe wax has less side-effect but not as effective ;-(
Let me know if you have other questions.
Enjoy your hold. xx
looks like a great product, shame it doesnt meet expectation
ReplyDeleteive never used wax but reading this review i may give it a go
ReplyDeleteRefreshing to see an honest review! And bless you, your poor legs looked sore too :-( I've only tried waxing once, rogue hairs on upper lip that nobody (hubby included) could see, apparently, but I could. So. Never again. I'll stick to covering my body entirely and shaving or epilating once a quarter (weddings, funerals and barbecues).
ReplyDeleteAmazing how we can become obsessed with hair no one else can see. I am so often guilty of that. And since the more you shave/wax etc; the tougher and thicker the hair grows ...
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteThe one good thing about winter is that I can stop stressing about my gorilla legs for a while!
Trousers & high legged boots hide a multitude of sins!
But, I have invested in an Expilator this year,& so long as you don't let the hairs get to long, it doesn't hurt ... Too much ... Only when I smile, anyhow!
I trialled this with Bzz Agent as well - like you I found it easy to apply but it was just too painful (I have sensitive skin and neither wax nor epilate as a rule) and didn't remove all the hair, admittedly this could be down to poor technique but they knew I was a novice from the outset. I was advised by a couple of other testers to heat the wax for the full 40 minutes for better results. I know one thing, lol, I am not trying it on my bikini line or underarms :D (Rafflecopter entries under my real name of Nikki Hayes)
ReplyDeleteI certainly wouldn't dare it on the bikini or armpits either ;-) xx
DeleteGreat review and exactly how I found it to be the same. I have PCOS and strong hair and the veet just could not shift it.
ReplyDeleteGreat review, I think I have tried every type of DIY wax on the market and have yet to find one that is easy to use and gets good results.
ReplyDeleteRecently I bought the Philips Lumea SC2003 Precision Plus IPL Hair Reduction System it's expensive but the results are amazing, I've used it 3 times and can already see a 60% reduction of hair on my legs and underams :)
Thank you very much for this information Laura. I must try it !!!
DeleteI used laser for acne on my face but never tried as a hair removal.
How much does the Lumea cost ?
I did this trial too - OUCH! wasn't impressed with results or redness afterwards! :(
ReplyDeleteI used this for Bzz also & was under impressed by it & was wondering if I should blog about it, but you've made up my mind for me. Thanks
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds unnecessarily painful in the name of beauty.
ReplyDeleteWhat we do sometimes … ;-)
DeleteGreat review I am yet to try mine so your review was very helpful for me
ReplyDeleteI hope it works for you Jessica.
DeleteReally glad the review was helpful.
And as Saetena was saying in a comment above, you may want to plug it in for the full 40mins before using to get optimal results
Thanks for this, I'm looking for something for my daughter to use, she has thick black hair and doesn't like to go to salons. I don't want to spend a lot of money on products that don't work well. I think it's back to the epilator for now.
ReplyDeleteI am glad the review was of some help Lynn.
DeleteThe epilator is not a bad solution.
Hope you/she find the perfect solution though.
Personally … still searching and alternating between epilator and razor
I enjoyed this review as it felt very honest. Most other reviews seem to praise it - I personally found Veet Easy Wax very ineffective!
ReplyDeleteThank you Natalie :-)
DeleteAnd thanks for sharing ! x
brill review
ReplyDeletei found it quick and easy to use - found it effect and great results! was happy with it - would never thing to use - but gettin it from bzz too super happy with itx
ReplyDeleteoooh you're brave! EVERY time I try and wax not only do I bruise horrifically but it doesn't even remove the hair!
ReplyDeleteOh Gosh ! That sounds like a nightmare. xx
DeleteGreat Review. Was tempted to buy one of these a while ago but after this post I dont think I'l waste my money. Doesn't seem to do the job it should.
ReplyDeleteHi Moonix,
DeleteI am not sure whether it is a question of doing the job it should or whether it works best on certain kind of hair.

ReplyDeleteHeard loads about these lately, they have some great offers on, looks great!
ReplyDeleteMy friend bought this the other morning saying it was really good, but after reading this and actually seeing the results I'm not so sure anymore, thanks for the great review :)
ReplyDeleteDid you friend have an average experience with it too Millie ?
Deletealways good to know an alternative to shaving
ReplyDeleteGreat review :) My hair is extremely strong, sugar waxing's the one that works best for me.
